English
Objectives
In English, learners are encouraged to be creative, original and imaginative in their composition of texts. They are taught to critically analyse texts. We facilitate the exploration of cultures through poetry, and character through drama and role play. They are empowered to become confident speakers, listeners, readers and writers. We enable them to understand how writers work in relation to their literary tradition and introduce them to current affairs and the world around them through debate and discussion.
Throughout the year there are opportunities for learners to participate in poetry and writing competitions. Our aim is for all learners to become independent, take charge of their own learning and have a myriad of opportunities open to them when they leave school.
