The Football Academy visits Harrow School to see the FA cup
In May 2011 some of the boys from the Football Academy were selected to visit Harrow School where the FA cup was being displayed. The boys, who attended the event with their teacher and coach Mr Sutherland, were very excited and pleased to see the cup up close and personal. The event was made possible by Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust.
In March 2011 Harrison Catering awarded Harrow High School with a new football kit after learners beat all other competing schools in a scratch card competition.
The Harrow High School Football Academy combines education and sport and aims to raise the motivation and attainment of learners from years 7-11.
Learners are only selected to be a part of the academy if they have shown a good attitude and ability in a recent trial. The Football Academy consists of 1 morning session a week which is compulsory, 1 to 2 sessions during normal school hours and 1 after school team practice. Learners are not taken out of any core subjects i.e. English, Maths or Science.
At the end of each term Harrow High School provides learners parents/ carers with an assessment of their son’s performance and feedback on how they are performing in class.
Through the academy HHS players have had the opportunity to have trials for Watford FC and Harrow Borough FC.
