Maths Department Mission Statement
The Mathematics Department at Harrow High School endeavours to help learners develop their mathematical and problem solving skills so that they are prepared to continue their studies in the sixth form or to go out into the workplace. This is brought about by using a variety of teaching and learning styles so that learners can make progress in an enjoyable way.
The department is fully resourced having interactive whiteboards in all classrooms which allows both teachers and learners to make use of the latest software. We also run enrichment classes where learners can come and extend their mathematical skills or to consolidate their understanding of certain topics.
Learners are nationally assessed in Mathematics at the end of KS3 (SAT) and KS4 (GCSE). We are now also delighted to be offering ‘A’ level Mathematics to an expanding sixth form. Here the learners will study Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics which provides an opportunity for them to read a variety of courses at university.
