A Level Results Day 2017 Press Release

A-Level Results Day 2017 Press Release

Harrow High School is pleased to announce that today its learners will be receiving the best ever A-Level results achieved at the school.

Learners in Year 13 achieved 20% of A level grades at A*-A and 55% at A*-B. With Level 3 BTEC outcomes included, these figures are a staggering 38% and 72% respectively.

Paul Gamble, Headteacher, commented “We are delighted with these results. They reflect just how hard learners and staff have worked to ensure that our learners achieved excellent outcomes. The standard of teaching and learning in our Sixth Form is truly impressive. AS-level outcomes for Year 12 were also the best ever at that stage and indicate even stronger A level results next year. I’d like to publicly thank all involved.”

Kevin Patel, Head of Sixth Form, said he was “delighted with the results. We set this year group a target of 90% of grades at A*-C and they went out there and achieved that. We are a small sixth form where teachers know learners really well, meaning they get the individual support they need to be successful.” He added “100% of our Sixth Form learners have made successful applications to universities across the country and these results will ensure they are all able to take up these places. It is a great finale for a fantastic year group, the first ever, in the school’s history, to go from Year 7 through to Year 13, showing how continuity in education is so important for successful outcomes.”

We are very proud of all our students, but some individuals have really shone this year:

  • Jedidiah Osabutey achieved A*A A in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and will be reading Maths and Physics at Warwick.
  • Mariam Elawadi achieved A*A*A C in Arabic, Italian, French and Biology and will be reading Italian and French at UCL .
  • Sher Nazari achieved ABB in English, Psychology and History and will be reading Law at Edinburgh.
  • Samer Al-Ghazaly achieved Distinction* Distinction Distinction in BTEC Science and will read Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield.
