GCSE Results Day 2017 Press Release
Harrow High School is pleased to announce that today its learners will be receiving the best ever GCSE results achieved at the school.
65% of learners achieved the new grade 4 in English and Maths whilst 42% achieved grade 5 or better in both, well ahead of the expected national averages. Science grades were again excellent an x% of all grades were at A or the new level 7 and above.
Even more impressive is that 25% of grades in Maths and 21% of grades in English were at 9-7 (A**-A equivalent.) 48% of learners achieved these top grades in Languages whilst over 40% did so in the Triple Sciences.
Paul Gamble, Headteacher, commented “These are a phenomenal set of results that reflect just how far the school has come. We are now working well in excess of national averages and the progress our learners make is just incredible. Our learners have worked so hard to achieve these outcomes and they have had the support of a dedicated and incredibly talented team of teachers and other staff. The standard of teaching and learning in our school is truly impressive. Even more impressive is the fact these results come on the back of our best ever A-level outcomes last week. We are so proud of all involved”
Jonathan Buchanan, Deputy Headteacher also commented “We are particularly delighted with our English and Mathematics results given that these are the new ‘harder’ examinations. 68% of our learners achieved grade 4 and above in English whilst the comparative score in Mathematics was an amazing 72%. I am just delighted that all the hard work our learners have put in over the past 5 years has paid off and will lead them to the next stage in their education. I must also pay tribute to their teachers who have supported and challenged them throughout – a great team effort!”
“It has been a great experience for my daughters to attend Harrow High School for the past few years, as the school has helped them since their very first day. The school has really helped in developing their English language skills, which has reinforced their studies and enabled them to achieve the highest grades. The positive experience of my daughters in the Sixth form (Mariam achieved A*A*A C in Year 13and Sara achieved AAAA grades in Year 12) encouraged me to enrol my youngest daughter in Harrow High School too. Every time I remember my daughters success in high school and Sixth form, I will always remember Harrow High.”
I am very grateful to all the staff at Harrow High School, for supporting my daughter so much over her time in the school. Her successes (achieving Triple Distinction* in BTEC Science) would not be possible without the hard work and encouragement of her teachers.
