Music Week 11 – Liszt

Hungarian pianist and composer, Franz Liszt, was a world renowned musician who had written more than 700 compositions in his life time. Having a musical father, Franz was taught how to play the piano from a very young age. By the age of six he was known as a child prodigy, at the age of eight he was composing and at the age of nine he was performing at concert halls. His musical abilities took him all around Europe; he played for the very wealthy and even Kings. Many composers had taken interest in him and were willing to guide and develop his musical talents.

When he was fifteen his father passed and this traumatic event caused a sudden halt to his musical interest, for several years he had questioned his profession in the music industry- that was until he fell in love and started composing again. He released his first set of compositions in 1834. From then, he had taken Europe by storm and ever since he has been a well respected and loved musician
