Every half term, the key content for each subject is summarised in a Knowledge Organiser. The Knowledge Organiser is a list of key facts and vocabulary that is critical for students to learn. All KS3 students receive a printed copy of the Knowledge Organiser.
Part of KS3 homework will be to learn this knowledge in small sections using the ‘Read, Cover, Write and Check’ strategy. This encourages them to take ownership of their learning and strengthens their ability to learn key information. Embedding this content is critical for long-term success and effective retrieval from long-term memory.
How to use the Knowledge Organiser
Read a section of your knowledge organiser. Cover it up. Write out what you remember in your green homework book. Check the knowledge organiser to see if you are correct. Repeat this process until you complete the section which has been set as homework. Mark your work and correct any errors using a green pen.
